BUSINESS PRACTICE INTERCHANGE (BPI): Up to date, confidential information about the companies that you deal with daily. This members only meeting is held 1 (one) hour prior to the monthly membership meeting and is designed to keep your company abreast of current trends within the industry.
MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS: ASA hosts a monthly luncheon in Jackson at 12:00 noon on the last Wednesday of each month. There are also a number of meetings that are held throughout the state during the year. The meetings feature programs on local, state and federal construction issues and related topics.
ADVOCACY: ASA works with local, state, and federal government agencies as well as general contractors, architects, engineers and owners to improve your subcontractor rights. All members receive regular updates on all legislative actions that takes place at the Capitol. ASA of MS has a full time lobbyist at the Capitol to make sure your voice is heard!
ASA NETWORKING EVENTS: ASA of Mississippi hosts a number of events during the year. These events are designed to bring subcontractors, material suppliers and other industry support firms together. Every spring ASA holds it annual ASA Golf Tournament, while in the fall it hosts an annual clay shoot. These two networking events are some of the biggest in the construction industry. During the summer ASA has its ASA Getaway Weekend. This is a time when ASA of MS members leave town for the weekend and go to Memphis, New Orleans, or somewhere everyone can have a fun time. We also have a number of other get togethers throughout the year, so check the calender.
ACCESS TO ASA NATIONAL: (http://www.asaonline.com) Members of the Mississippi Chapter are automatically members of the National ASA organization in Alexandria, VA. Among other services, national issues a bi-monthly newsletter, which is sent to members of ASA Mississippi. Members are also eligible to attend the National Convention and Mid-Year meetings, which are held in various resort spots around the country. ASA national has issued a series of books, brochures, and forms to help subcontractors and suppliers. The ASA National website is an excellent tool for any subcontractor looking to improve business. It offers a number of educational tools such as books and podcasts.
